Polar Connect at the Arctic Science Summit Week in Aarhus next week.


We will be present on Wednesday, 25 March (first day only). During the day, you can find us at our stand to learn more about the initiative and speak with the team.

The session, originally initiated by Julia Muchowski (Swedish Polar Research Secretariat), will explore how Polar Connect can support continuous, real-time environmental and scientific data collection from the Arctic Ocean.
The programme includes:
โ€“ an introduction to Polar Connect and its broader context
โ€“ sensing technologies and future possibilities
โ€“ data management and security for sensing data from submarine fibre cables

A central part of the workshop will be moderated group discussions focusing on:
โ€“ opportunities for Indigenous and local Arctic communities, including policy and legal aspects

โ€“ data management and data security

Per is the Chair of the Polar Connect Advisory Board . He serves as Head of Unit atย  the Swedish Research Council, where he leads the development and operation of Swedenโ€™s national infrastructure for research and education in networking and digital communication. With over three decades of experience in digital infrastructure and public-sector innovation,ย Per leadership has been instrumental in advancing high-capacity networks that support research collaboration, data-intensive science, and education across the Nordic region. Per is also Chair of the Board of the Foundation for the Development of Telematics, a grant-making foundation that supports the advancement of high-performance digital infrastructure in Sweden.ย Heย also serves on the Board of Directors of Netnod, representing the foundation as owner and contributing to the governance of Swedenโ€™s critical internet infrastructure. Perย has been a trusted advisor to government agencies, research institutions, and international collaborations.
